An investigation of the characteristics of dam-break flood in a confluence channel based on the lattice Boltzmann method

In this study, we use a lattice Boltzmann method with multi-relaxation-time model to simulate dam-break flooding in confluence channels four angles. Compared physical experiment, the simulation proves reliable. We analyze influence of angle on propagation flood. The stage hydrograph at area can be divided into stages: before wavefront reaches—rising rapidly—falling gradually—planarization periodic fluctuation. water depth measuring points is influenced by two factors: and distance from point first impact point. results demonstrate that backwater effect enhanced higher As increases, moves upstream. Moreover, there strong close point, resulting superelevation mainly occurring area.
